Balapur Ganesh Utsava Samithi being the very first organization to accept the invitation of  Bhagayanagar Ganesh Utsava Samithi in the year 1980 and was the very first to acquire the permissions to do so. Since then Balapur Ganesh is being called as PRARAMBA GRAMA VINAYAKUDU” which means the idol which commences the main Ganesh Nimajjanam/ Visarjan/ immersion procession in Hyderabad. Glorious Ganesh Nimajjanam (Visarjan)  of Balapur Ganesh annually has been awarded another title “Adhi Vinayaka”.

Balapur Ganesh Laddu was auctioned for the first time in the year 1994 and the holy prasadam laddu was owned by the Kollan Mohan Reddy for the first time with an auction price of Rs. 450.00. Balapur Ganesh laddu auction tradition continued year after year while the amount increased to thousands and lakhs. Balapur Ganesh Utsava Samithi has set Rs. 1,116.00 as the initial bid amount.

Ganesh laddu auctioning tradition of Balapur has been spread to many other parts of the nation later. It was Mr. Kollan Mohan Reddy who won the maha parasadam bangaru laddu during the years 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2004 and 2008. He is the only devotee so far to be blessed with such opportunity to own the Balapur Ganesh laddu in bidding for 7 times. It is believed that person who buys the Balapur Laddu is bestowed with good fortunes, wealth and health for the whole year and for farmers it is believed that it improves the yield on being sprinkled in the agricultural fields and lands.

Balapur Ganesh Laddu Auctioning Ritual - How it Happens?

After fourteen years of utsav committee formation Balapur Ganesh laddu has been auctioned in the year 1994 and since then the genesis of auctioning is being continued. Arrangements for the auctioning of Balapur laddu is completed by 6 A.M. in the morning of the eleventh day. To witness the auction, devotees from various places and states come early in the morning to visit the Balapur Ganesha mandap.

Under the protection of police forces and other arrangements of the audio system, decor, water supply and breakfast, auctioning arrangements takes place from 9 A.M. in the morning of the Immersion Day. Ganesh Utsav Committee members express their vote of thanks and the expenditure of funds raised previous year to the gathered people of the village. Balapur Ganesh laddu auction is commenced by Mr. Vangeti Laxma Reddy with the initial bid of Rs. 1,116 (One Thousand One Hundred and Sixteen Rupees).

Every year the initial bid of the balapur laddu remains same which is set by the balapur ganesh utsav committee. Mr. Vangeti Laxma Reddy has been the Auctioneer since 1994, the year of inception of the Laddus bidding.  The enthusiasm of the people could be seen once the bidding reaches the previous years amount. The actual cheer and fervor in the crowd begins from the moment the bid crosses the limit set by the previous years bidder. The winner of the preceding years auction has to handover the complete amount to the Ganesh Utsav Committee in front of the Balapur villagers and all the gathered battalion. The auction winner has to sign an affidavit a legal document stating the same, before receiving the Laddu from the Ganesha idol.
